Residential mental health setting with children and adolescents that addressed the emotional needs of both the child and the family. Provided individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. Developed Treatment Plans for individuals with both short and long-term goals/objectives and clinical interventions used to meet those goals.
June 2000 - June 2001
Medical Social Worker / Sentara Hospitals
Acute care hospital setting at Sentara Norfolk General, and Sentara Leigh Memorial. Consulted with patients and their families in the general population, trauma, women’s health, and oncology patients to explore the emotional and psychosocial needs of those individuals. Collaborated with case managers to ensure an appropriate discharge plan. Bereavement counseling with terminally ill patients and their families. Served on the Ethics committee and palliative care committee.

Day Treatment Therapist / Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare
Day Treatment Therapist working with children in an alternative school setting. Facilitated group therapy and individual therapy to address the behavioral and emotional needs of the students.
